Help women move forward, just like Marianne
Marianne volunteers for Mamas for Africa because her heart goes out to the Congolese women who struggle to survive every day.

Marianne is a donor and volunteer for Mamas for Africa
"As a nurse, I used to travel regularly to Congo, to the Niantendé hospital in Bukavu. I assisted with difficult thyroid operations and we never lost a single patient. That is where I met Dr Mukwege (Nobel Prize recipient and partner of Mamas for Africa), a man who deeply moved me with his dedication and humanity towards women and girls.
Today, I volunteer for Mamas for Africa because my heart still goes out to the Congolese women who are trying to survive every day. I stand at markets, organise dinners and raise money. Because I believe in women's rights, in equality and in the power of emancipation."

"I strongly believe in the work of Mamas for Africa. Women need to know that they are not alone, and that starts with raising awareness about gender inequality and its impact.
More respect and support for women means less violence. That respect must be enforced in families, in villages, in laws. The Congolese government plays an important role in the safety of women. The appointment of a female minister is already a step in the right direction. For me, it is clear: helping women helps heal society as a whole."
