'The war and violence make our lives miserable,' says Francine (47). 'Many women in my village have experienced sexual violence. I wanted to do something for them. With the help of Mamas for Africa, I set up a women's group. This way I show my daughters that things can be different.'
'A mentor at Mamas for Africa helped me with grants and with the search for a suitable location. I am grateful to her for the support because for me everything was new. Now me and the other women are in a stronger place. Every week we meet up to help and support each other. A close friendship is developing.'
