International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
We all share a vested interest in creating a society where women are free from violence.
November 25
Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
That violence ... How come, dear reader? That it just doesn't get eradicated. But women and men, we all have an interest in a society free of violence against women.
And let us dare to look further. Because a society brimming with female power, with strong, enterprising, well-educated and committed women. That is what we need! Both in Belgium and in Eastern Congo. Because that society is flourishing. Prosperity is growing.
That is why: Mamas for Africa, thanks to your support, lets women move forward. Together, we make society as a whole move forward!

What does Mamas for Africa do?
- We oppose violence on girls and women
- We call for support for girls and women in eastern Congo: where sexual violence is widely used as a weapon of war
Nobel laureate and champion of women's empowerment Malala Yousafzai:
We cannot all succeed if half of us are held back.
Providing opportunities for girls and women increases everyone's chances of a prosperous future.
And that is why stopping violence is already a start. It seems so minimal, this condition. Yet it remains necessary to reiterate this call today: Stop violence on girls and women!
Philanthropist Melinda Gates:
Every woman should be free to thrive. Free from violence and from insecurity. That is why women and men must work together to overcome these obstacles.
Women are the cornerstone of the Congolese community.
Dear reader, if we work together to take care of women, and give women more opportunities, it means new chances for a better life.
A better life for herself, but also for her husband, her children, her neighbours, ...
Thank you for supporting us, dear reader. Together we move women forward.

Stop violence
In eastern Congo, 1 in 3 women are victims of sexual violence. Often they are left to their own devices. They live in villages where no other organisation comes. Mamas for Africa, with your support, does go there and that is why we need your help. Do as the more than 4.000 other donors did in 2023 and help make a difference.
