‘Thanks to Mamas for Africa, my life has meaning again’

What happened that day:

‘A year ago, I was on my way home from the field when four soldiers kidnapped me,’ says 64-year-old Nicole. ‘I was forced to choose: let them rape me or kill me. They used me as a toy, drugged and abused me. When they had enough of me, they left me naked and tied up. A passer-by brought me to Mamas for Africa, where a doctor took care of me.’

‘The violence woke me up. Once I recovered physically, I joined the community meetings of Mamas for Africa. And I still do. It's where I learn to stand up for other victims. My life has meaning again.’
